Aegean coast of Turkey

The Aegean coast of Turkey is very different from Antalya. The climate is drier, and the entire resort infrastructure is more compact. On the coast of the Aegean Sea, as well as in Antalya, there are club-type hotels and city hotels.

It was on the Aegean coast that several thousand years ago the Greeks began to settle, having appreciated this region. Centuries passed, the Greeks were replaced by other peoples, but the beauty and convenience of the bays of the Aegean coast remained the same.
The main resorts of the coast
Marmaris, Icmeler, Fethiye, Bodrum, Kusadasi, Kas, Didyma.

Widely known to lovers of beach holidays, the Cesme peninsula, and its many magnificent beaches. Rest here is not only pleasant, but also useful: on the peninsula there are many mineral springs that can restore strength to an organism weakened by urban stresses and a busy lifestyle. Doctors unanimously say that even a short rest on the Cesme peninsula will bring noticeable improvement to the body. Gyumyuldur is especially popular. The village is located about 50 km from Izmir and is the cherished goal of lovers of water sports: swimming, diving, surfing.

Entertainment and Attractions
Without a doubt, the Aegean coast of Turkey is a wonderful place not only for a beach holiday, but also for educational tourism. For some reason, few are aware that about 80% of ancient monuments are located in Turkey, and not in Greece, and it is to Turkey that there is a reason to go “for antiquity”.

The cultural capital of the Aegean coast is Izmir, one of the most interesting and beautiful cities of modern Turkey. Izmir is considered a very ancient settlement in Turkey, the first mention of it is more than 3000 years old. Over the years of his life, he has accumulated so many attractions that it is simply impossible to see them at a time. The ancient fortress, built by one of the military leaders of Alexander the Great, and the marble columns of the Agora, and the grave of mother Ataturk, and numerous museums rich in their collections. In addition, there is the mausoleum of Tantalus, the same one that was doomed to roll a stone uphill, and the bath of the goddess Diana … Legends? Of course, legends! However, maybe not legends … Who will say for sure now? Sightseeing the city will not be difficult even in the heat: five rivers flowing through Izmir give coolness to both the city’s residents and tourists.

The village of Kusadasi is popular. Once it was a favorite place of deployment of pirates of the Aegean Sea, headed by the formidable Barbarossa. The seaport and towers of the old fortress still remind of those times as completely peaceful vacationers, and few of them think that they came to rest in places that were once the stronghold of evil. And who will think of such things, basking in the gentle sun or splashing in the purest waves of the Aegean?

Other noteworthy places
The excursion program “in Aegean” is markedly different from the Antalya one: from the local resorts it is more convenient to see other sights – Ephesus, Dalyan, Miletus, Didim, Cleopatra Island. It was in Ephesus that the famous temple of Artemis was located, which mercilessly burned Herostratus. Such picturesque villages on the Aegean coast of Turkey as Marmaris and Fethiye are quite well mastered by Russian tourists, they are great for combining a beach holiday with excursions to ancient attractions, which are numerous in Turkey. Perhaps the whole Aegean coast of Turkey is a reserve of antiquity. Honor and praise to the people who have preserved all its sights for humanity.

Rafting on the Dalaman River is much more interesting than in Antalya.

Weather on the Aegean coast of Turkey
Due to the fact that the width of the coast is very significant, the climate here is constant. In the hottest months (July and August), the air temperature is around 30 degrees, and the water warms up to 26. The coldest months – January and February – flow with a temperature of about 10 degrees. Thanks to the almost constant wind that blows from the sea, the heat is not felt exhausting.

Aegean Coast Hotels Turkey
On the coast of the Aegean Sea, as well as in Antalya, there are club-type hotels and city hotels. However, an octopus named “all inclusive” has not yet managed to completely entangle local resorts with its tentacles: it is not so difficult here to find hotels working on the half-board system.
